As we continue to explore art, the artistic journey leads to work with a variety of mediums- like Glass, Clay, oils, acrylics, wood, metal, and the like.
The process of working with a variety of materials enables me to create art to realize texture, form, consistency, color, depth, transparency, light, translucency, and other attributes.
Of all the mediums I've worked with, I have been enamored by glass. Since glass has the ability to reflect and refract light, I am continually mesmerized by textured glass, its opacity, and transparency. Working with glass helps realize spatial dimensions, that confine and reflect beyond a finite space.
I have explored some of the infinite variations that painting on glass offers. I've also enjoyed teaching glass art workshops in Toronto.
I have incorporated the texture of glass to form part of the theme of my Stained glass painting. . Every sheet of glass is unique, and I begin a piece by looking at the glass while imagining how I can best showcase the beauty of the glass through pattern, shape, texture and additional color elements. I am particularly drawn to creating subtle textures within the glass and then using finishing techniques, and varnish the finished piece, of art. It is the attention to small details, on each piece of glass, the use of liners, and transparent colors that make every artwork exclusive. I incorporate glass grooves, opacity, and transparency, into the theme of the glass painting.
As I evolve as an artist, I find that I am drawn to observe how nature, light and glass harmonize with the other. Transparent color variations of blues and greens often appear predominantly in my paintings. Some of my more recent pieces have been influenced by nature, the Monarch butterflies in Canada, and fishes in the sea. I look forward to exploring more Nature-based themes in the future.
I like the harmony between glass, transparent colors, and light, that give an antique, timeless component to the artwork, and it reflects purity and the richness of glass.
I will use the art for outreach, development, and to explore the melange of Canadian and other cultures.
